Celebrating the Emirate’s Journey from Past to Present

Taking the New Year excitement to new heights, Dubai welcomed the latest addition to its tourism offerings on 1 January 2018,in the form of Dubai Frame or ‘Berwaz Dubai’, a magnificent architectural landmark that connects the emirate’s past with its present.
Covered with a layer of golden cladding metal, Dubai Frame consists of two 150-metre transparent glass towers that are connected by a 93-metre bridge at the top, with the space between the two towers offering a spectacular view of the city from a high altitude. On one side, the structureframes the images and iconic buildings of Sheikh Zayed Road to symbolize the modern transformation of Dubai, while the other side narrates the story of the city’s origins through the districts of Deira, Umm Hurair and Karama, which represent Old Dubai.
The ground floor of Dubai Framehouses the [Old Dubai Gallery] museum that takes visitors on a multi-sensory journey through the city’s historic past, as recreated through a combination of 3D images, projections, mist and scent effects, and motions.
Visitors are then directed to the Sky Deck level to experience the city in its present form through uninterrupted views of the emirate from all sides – Old Dubai to the north and New Dubai to the south. Innovative features such as augmented reality screens that allow the visitors to identify the various buildings and landmarks of the emirate, complement the visual treat.
The future of Dubai awaits visitors on the mezzanine level where they are given the opportunity to witness the unbelievable transformation the city will undergo over the next 50 years. Showcasing Dubai as a vibrant virtual metropolis, the Future Dubai Gallerybrings to life a highly engaging experience through virtual reality technology.
